Well I've been working on my resolutions/2014 to do list for a few weeks now and this is what I've come up with.
Since I love love lists, I've broken it down into categories; books, places, experiences.
First, I've got my main 5 that will be an ongoing effort - the others are more a one and done thing.
1. First & foremost - I want to grow in my relationship with God. My plan is to (no matter where I am or how tired/busy I am) spend at least 30 minutes a day with my Bible and my Bible only. I love Bible studies and I think they are a wonderful resource but I also think such an intimate relationship with God can be formed by solely spending time in His word. Also, I'd like to start each day by waking up 30 minutes early to meditate and pray to begin every day with the right mindset & also give me a time to give all my worries to God instead of letting them control me & not allowing me to be His light in the world.
2. RUN. run. RUN! I've always been so envious of people who legitimately enjoy running so 2014 is the year for that! I've also set a super long term goal of January 2015 to run the Houston half marathon. It's a pretty big goal for me but I just have to remember this journey is a marathon not a sprint (no pun intended! haha)
3. I found this AMAZING article by Jarrid Wilson "Why I'm Getting A Divorce in 2014" about our generations inability to connect with the real world and are completely "in love" with our phones and putting them before so many incredible & important people/relationships/experiences in our lives! I'm not saying they aren't important, but I myself am so guilty of sitting right next to Jacob and being more worried about "instagramming" our lives than actually living them! So 2014 I'm going to work on the balance of
wanting to "be" in the moment and also knowing when to capture those
moments.
4. My goal is to post here at least once a week. It's a great & creative outlet for me and I know Jacob loves seeing this side of me. I love all the wonderful people I've met so far and can't wait to see where this goes if I just stick with it.
5. I want to find a group of 5
women in Covington that I feel like I can be myself with and don't feel like I
have to be constantly "on guard" with. Women are meant to support each other, build each other up & I know through prayer I'll be able to find an amazing, tight knit group of women that can serve as that support system I'm so desperately yearning for.
