How the Weaver's came to be...

Good afternoon everyone!

I thought I posted a tad hastily yesterday and wanted to give you a bit of background into this beautiful life that I'm trying to get more out of!

As mentioned in my profile, I am married to an amazing, wonderful, handsome man named Jacob who is my rock. He carries me through the hard, dark days of life & is my best friend. He is strong, determined, compassionate & I thank the Lord every single day for bringing us together.

Me & my sweet husband on our honeymoon in Playa del Carmen this summer.

I was born in Metairie, Louisiana on May 8, 1989 to two wonderful parents who taught me everything (well pretty much everything) I needed to know about this crazy world. My dad works in the oil industry so I grew up mainly overseas, in Kuwait & Indonesia and coming back to the U.S. for high school in Houston. Having the opportunity to grow up overseas is one I have a hard time explaining. It has given me a global perspective that I don't think I would have gained anywhere else & definitely cannot be taught. I have seen extreme poverty & destruction, extreme wealth, and more breathtaking sunsets than I can count. My family has been forced to evacuate from both Kuwait and Indonesia due to terrorist threats, yet this was life. And an incredible one at it. The good days far outweighed the bad & I wouldn't change a single second to have a "normal" childhood as many of my current peers speak about. Spending much of my childhood on an airplane, in an airport, or on the way to/from an airport instilled a yearning for adventure & a passion to see every corner of this Earth.

Now for a side story. You know that amazing man I spoke about earlier? Well his dad works for the same oil company my dad works for and we met in 8th grade while living in a small camp in Rumbai, Indonesia. Of course, after 8th grade we went our separate ways, him to boarding school in England, later to finish high school in Venezuela and me to a school of 4000 in Klein, Texas. We both finished high school & decided to attend college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas (unknowingly that the other was there). My first day on campus I get a message on Facebook from the handsome Jacob Weaver who made my heart swoon even in 8th grade. That evening, he came in a polo, jeans & some bright green tennis shoes to my dorm to pick me up in a shiny new pickup truck, took me to dinner and stole my heart with his dazzling smile & sweet little dimple.

Our favorite thing about fall: Texas Tech game day! Suns up, guns up! Wreck em'!

We got married on May 26, 2012 and it has been the happiest 9 months of my life. We live in Covington, LA and do our best to treat every day like the blessing that it is. I have married into an amazing family that gave me 3 incredible brother in laws, 2 phenomenal sister in laws, 1 beautiful niece, 1 handsome nephew & an "unconditional love" set of in laws. Blessed blessed blessed.

We both graduated from Texas Tech University, my degree in Petroleum Engineering & his in Mechanical Engineering and work for the same company! How cool is that! We were so blessed that the opportunity arose for us & now welcome the challenges that two new grads face trying to find our way at a huge corporation. I currently work a rotational schedule (14 days on/14 days off) & spend half of my year on a rig in the Gulf of Mexico. I am a drill site manager working my way up to becoming a fancy drilling engineer. It is an exciting, amazing opportunity that God laid out for me and I'm using every chance I get to give Him thanks & show Him that I am grateful even for the most unexpected blessings.

Alright, I'll leave ya'll with a beautiful quote that reminds me to always see the best in everyone & if you give someone enough love & encouragement they can be who God meant them to be!

Until next time,

xoxo Amanda
